Welcome to SIGN 2 ME blog!

Hi guys, today, I wanted to show you guys about what I went to the field trip recently and it was amazing.

My teks and grade are in 1st grade and I thought that the kids should learn about family tree so I decided to show them about dinosaurs. I think my kids would love to learn about dinosaurs and I would show books related to dinosaurs.

Here's the link to my Prezi about what I saw at the museum.
First grade Perot Museum

Anyway, I hope you guys had a nice holiday and Merry Christmas!
May the Sign be with you…

WEEKLY BLOG-SIGN 4
Hey guys, Welcome to Sign 2 Me, blog 4! REMINDER: THIS BLOG ONLY RELATING TO KKALLAS BLOG!
Today's blog, My teacher gave us, including me, questions about what is Initiative and what's like from our point of view and what we had learn so far.
  • What does initiative mean to you? Someone with great leadership, willing to make the kids understand, willing to listen their opinions and creative new ways to overcome it and think their logical minds like the power rangers! (yes, I used to be a huge fan of Power Ranger and that picture I posted there was the best series ever. FOR REAL.)
  •

Why did I choose Power Rangers? It remind me children need a teacher to learn and control their knowledge for education like the Red ranger for a example. At first episode of a new generation of Power Rangers, teenagers, (or adult) learn their power to fulfilled the role to save the world. As you can see, the Blue, Yellow, Green(they usually always have black rangers at almost all series and other colors like white, etc comes later after already used their roles as a team.), Pink are the "children". They cannot learn without a leader like the red ranger at the middle. The Red Ranger are always a leader because the leader always thinks new ways to defect the enemy's puppet. But they always have a mentor, teacher, allies to teach how to become a great rangers and the red ranger always have a strong leaderships and relationships with each others. In series, almost at all series on first episodes, they always meet out of the blue and you just become a team! Not just ONLY the Red Rangers, the other rangers can be a leader in sometimes just to think out of the box. It's not like "YOU ARE THE LEADER OF THE TEAM, YOU MUST BE A LEADER!" or something like that. So, it's almost similar to teachers and Power Rangers, but right now I'm pretty sure you're clueless of what I'm talking about but if you watched Power Ranger as your childhood, you might understand it. BUT if I was part of the Power Rangers, I would be clueless without my leader and I would have to communicate and work together as a team.

  • Make a list at least 10 ways you can show initiative as an EAT Intern in your field site classroom.
  •  Read a book to the kids
  • Help them to write
  • Grade papers
  • break each students to each small groups
  • handling with students who are arguing over little things and solving
  • watching the kids, making sure the kids are safe inside
  • Be there for the kids
  • listening to the kids and understanding their problems
  • playing with the kids
  • always try your best to motivate students to learning!

  • Find at least 5 words synonyms with Initiative.
  •               IMAGINATION
  •               INGENUITY
  •               VISION
  •               CREATIVITY
  •               CHARISMA

  • Write a paragraph that indicate some actual thing you did the week to show initiative in your classroom. How did this impact your mentor teachers or students?
What I actually did was I did have one-on-one with one students for their reading ability. I point to each words, just in case they get lost in reading, to see how well they can read on the level they are reading. I have some students who goes to speech during Tuesday, the speech was just one door ahead, but I would rather go with them and actually watch the kids get in safety because you never going to know if they run away from school or something awful happen. Sometimes I help the students with words like -op, -am,-og and etc. Recently, I read a book in front of the rainbow table with the kids and asked some questions on what is on the picture. The kids was talking all in once and I told the kids to raise your hands so I can understand what they are saying. I said if you shout the answer or didn't raise your hands, I will not choose you to answer my questions. So the kids actually raised their hands and I choose some of the kids. While I was reading, first, I read the book to the kids then I show the book on the page. I think I impact the students with more confidence. The students are getting better everyday with reading and these kids made me smile. They are becoming more like family to me. Tuesday and Wednesday morning, these kids gave me the warmest greeting I can ever get, this was my best moments I come in to my field site on Tuesday and Wednesday morning.
  •   Why initiative such an important characteristic for a teacher to possess?  The teachers need to have creativity, leadership, vision, caring, charisma and inspire students to learn. If these teachers don't meet their standard characteristic, they would not able to teach. Same with Power Rangers, if you don't do well with each other and not working together in order to defect the villains, hasta la vista they will take your transformation equipments until you are prepare to fight.
According to a another blog, This blog tells what is their opinions on Child Initiative what what the child should do in order to have a healthy lifestyle. The Whole Child Initiative (ASCD) shows how a child should be student-center on the life style. For more information on how to lead a students to a Healthy lifestyles, go to http://nisce.org/what-does-the-whole-child-initiative-mean-for-student-centered-education/.com.

Also, there is a video that last five minutes to watch this video. This video is mainly about how teacher do when they show initiative on each students and these kids do in class. Enjoy the show!
Until then, May the Sign be with you...

WEEKLY BLOG-SIGN 3
Hey guys, Welcome back to Sign 2 Me! Happy early Halloween! Can't you believe it? Halloween is just around the corner and I cannot wait to eat all the candy but...that will not happen.(I wish..) Why am I talking it? Pardon Me!
REMINDER: THIS BELONG TO THIS THIS LINK: KALLAS. -AHEM- Hey...have you kept a secret? A secret that nobody want to know? Something you really wanted to tell but cannot to say it? Don't get me wrong people, I'm not to make any rumors. Don't ask me about my secret. DON'T. THINK. ABOUT. IT. You guys must be thinking why are we talking about secrets, THAT is the topic today. This topic is called Confidentiality and what is CONFIDENTIALITY?

.      Confidentiality mean a secret. Teachers need to keep because each students have a disability or a situation, causing a students' life and teachers are not responsible for the students' personal life, all the teachers can do is respect the child's personal issues. Most teachers need to be careful what they say to the students' confidentiality because if the teacher spills the beans, it could possible to ruin the teacher's career and might ruin the child's future.
According to Patti Hartigan, former reporter/critic/columnist from Boston Globe, she told her opinion on the True/Slant website and she's right! Not just only the teachers, Volunteers too as well. From my opinion, I volunteer sometimes to keep myself busy, honestly I never heard or seen someone gossip about disability, the issue and all the drama and that's a good thing! It shows me that this person is mature enough and maintain the confidentiality but it's still a issue. People should sign for Confidentiality Policy, even my mother agree with me about confidentiality! If someone was talking about me because I have a disability of being deaf, to my mom, it's a insult with no respect. To me, I would feel insult and looked down upon me. To learn more about Confidentiality, click to this website on the link, confidentiality!
There is one mintue of short video about Confidentiality so bring your snacks and enjoy the short video, giving tips!
UNTIL NEXT TIME, MAY THE SIGN BE WITH YOU AND....Happy Halloween!

Weekly Blog- Sign Blog 2
Hello people on Earth! Aliens on other plants as well. Welcome to Sign 2 me!
Oh the sweet smell of Fall...people growing pumpkins, making costumes, scaring people with scary stories about ghost and monsters...AH, my favorite time of the season, I love it so much.. -ahem- I'm not here to talk about Halloween and the love of Fall season, how random!
Anyway, my teacher from BCTAL gave us a few scenarios to pick and I decided to choose number one scenarios. Remember, this is only just for a blog to KKallas! TIME FOR WHAT WILL YOU DO! Get it? Anybody? No? Then that's just me.
      -AHEM- Scenario number one,
You left Campus for lunch and when you returned to Campus, you missed the bus that transports EAT Interns to your Field Site Campus. You don't have a car but your boyfriend said that he could take you to your field site. You took him up the offer. When you boarded the car to return to your Home Campus, Another Intern asked why you weren't on the bus earlier. You asked the Intern not to point this out to your EAT teacher, Mrs. Cragire, since no harm was done.
HOLD THE PHONE! I think as my opinion, if I missed the bus, I would let my EAT teacher know where am I and the reason why I missed the bus. It's nice of my "boyfriend" (If i actually have one..) offer a ride, but I would let my EAT teacher know that I will be ride with someone that I know and be arriving late. But for my safety, I would have to ride with a student that WE know that is part of EAT class, it would be much safe and easier. If I had gone with a stranger, I might be kidnapped and gone missing for 24 hours and ALL the police will be looking for me and I might be alive or gone dead. Yup, I think I'm going with a friend or a classmate for a ride, end of the line.
That would be all today, Until next time, MAY THE SIGN BE WITH YOU!

Digital Footprint

September 20th, 2013
WEEKLY BLOG-SIGN BLOG 1
Hello, Welcome to SIGN 2 ME BLOG! My name is Ana Avalos, owner of Sign 2 Me. Today, let's talk about this interesting topic.
Do you have Facebook? Instagram? Twitter? Myspace? If so, then let's discuss about Digital Footprint. I know people have Facebook, Twitter, Email and all the network icons but what is Digital Footprint? It is little bit similar to a brain that control everything in the body and the cells run the body, come in and come out and do their job. But Digital Footprint is Internet that people used these days. It impacted people's life with technology and that's a good thing! Alas, people can advance technology as a trail of bread like Hansel and Gretel in the book. It could possible a wolf might follow the trail of bread an led to them and it might have some conflict that could possible eat them to death, same thing to the network world but not the killing thing part.
Do you know that Digital Footprint benefit for your College Application? That fact really surprised me when I found out about the benefit of the Digital Footprint. Also, there is some things that we need to watch out on the network. Think before you press the button that said, "post" or "send" because once you press it...It's all over the Internet. Let's say for a example, You are at the club and brought your friends with you at the club. You knew that your job interview is tomorrow, so you didn't know that the boss will look at your facebook and see if it suited you for the job and you decided to take a picture of yourself with your friends.
Facebook: Ana Avalos posted a photo.
OMG I'M HAVING SOOO MUCH FUN @ THE CLUB!!!! LMAO!!!! TOTS CAN'T WAIT TO COME BACK AGAIN 2 PART-AY!
     NEXT DAY:
The boss checked during the interview in Facebook. "Huh, so you went to the club, having fun. Should you be  ? By the way, nice spelling and grammars. You should go back to second grade."
Be careful what you say on Facebook or you might have to become a homeless with no job and have huge problem with spelling and grammars.  I believe that we need to watch what we post and comment on social network, so that way we can separate our everyday life and work life. Watch the video link below there and find out if you typed and post on facebook in real life problem.

   http://youtu.be/zY13laJuH98

"I feel like there's nothing there that bring me down."
According to Abbas's statement, at first, I didn't understand what was he talking about. After re watching the second time, I understand what he mean. I agree with Abbas, people post all the negative comments and post weird pictures but people can SEE the post on social network. I don't post anything that's negative, well, sometimes, but I posted with good positive like for an example. I went to TSD (Texas School for the Deaf) for the a month to take my driving class and that's a positive thing! You don't have to post anything to get many likes and I don't care what people liked on Facebook or Instagram. It's not like you HAVE to say anything weird in order to be popular. Just post something positive but don't say anything negative because it could led to conflict and possible affect your life. I may posted things that are negative sometimes, but it could possible affect my college application and my life!
-This Topic is for my class, KKALLAS.-
Until next time, May the Sign be with you.
